Pezzalunga Pezzalunga

Grapes: Barbera (30-40%), Pinot Noir (30-40%), Croatina (20-30%) and Vespolina (10%).

Vinification: the grapes are hand harvested at different times and vinified separately with no addition of sulphur dioxide. Fermentation takes place at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. After primary fermentation, the wines always undergo malolactic fermentation. They are not assembled until November, so that the best sensory balance can be achieved. The blend so obtained is clarified and made ready for bottling.

Bottling: the wine is lightly filtered and then bottled. It is marketed one or two months after bottling.

Tasting notes: Pezzalunga is probably the most typical wine of the Oltrepò Pavese region, though this is a modern version. Colour is bright ruby; its bouquet is very fruited, with hints of strawberry, blackcurrant and vanilla; the palate is elegant, fine and well balanced. This red wine is delightful with all traditional dishes.
